Keep calm and visit Pondicherry

Situated in South India, Pondicherry is one of the few places left in India, where you can still see the traces of Portuguese culture in its prime. You can see present mingling with past even through the residential complexes that are being built even today. One of the seven union territories of India, it is one of the few which are accessible by road, others being Chandigarh and Delhi. To reach there you can book Chennai to Pondicherry taxi, which takes approximately 3.5 hours in whole.

There are many attractions in Pondicherry to keep you occupied.

  1. Manakula Vinayagar Temple: A hindu shrine, the temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha, it is a popular pilgrimage site and tourist destination in Pondicherry. The temple existed even before the French occupation of Pondicherry and survived several attempts that were made to destroy the temple owing to strong opposition by Hindu population. The historical significance of the temple is huge as it crossed centuries after centuries without any visible harm.

  1. Paradise Beach: A private beach, the place is well  maintained and remains open for all days. With some good restaurants and shacks, you can also go swimming in the blue waters. Paradise beach stands up to its reputation as the aromas from the kitchen, the ambience, swishing of waves and feel of walking barefoot on beach just make you feel like you are in heaven.

  1. Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus: Situated in Southern part of Pondicherry, the church is a classical example of Gothic architecture. Containing rare stained glass panels, the Catholic church  depicts events from the life of Christ and various other saints. The architecture and the history of the church has helped it become one of the famous tourist spots in Pondicherry.

  1.
